Another Successful Viking Fest
The long-held tradition known as Viking Fest was held last month in Poulsbo, Washington and organizers estimate about 40,000 people attended the weekend festivities, making it a rousing success again this year.
The festival is a celebration of Scandinavian culture in the Pacific Northwest's Puget Sound. The city of Poulsbo was settled by Scandinavian immigrants in 1883 and although the city has grown over the last 130 years, Poulsbo is still decidedly Scandinavian and chooses to celebrate Norway's Constitution Day. The celebration includes a three-day Viking Fest with a carnival, crafts, food and cultural exhibits.
"Being involved as a major sponsor of Viking Fest has been a tradition for us that we’re proud to continue, said Pam Whitt, Poulsbo Branch Manager and Viking Fest Board Member.
The Bank was the lone site to pre-purchase event wristbands, and we also sponsored the Miss Viking Fest procession and a traditional Norwegian dance group in the popular Saturday parade. Additionally, for the past 10 years the Bank has donated office space to event organizers, which they use year-round.
